Our Complete range of products are Third-Rail-Shoegears, RTG Electrification Systems, Onshore Power Supply, Onshore Power Supply for Cruise Ships and Charging PANTO bus.

Third-Rail-Shoegears

We are specialised in customised innovative solutions in the field of third rail shoegears for suburban rail, metros and rapid transit rail. Thanks to its large cross-section, the third rail can transmit high current densities. It is always used when an overhead wire for roof-mounted pantographs cannot or should not be installed. The maximum vehicle speed with third rail shoegears is approximately 120 kmh. Deployment and retraction can take place manually or by remote control, i.e. through mechanical or pneumatic systems. The contact to the conductor rail can be made from the top or the bottom or even from the side. Our third rail shoegears are in everyday use in local rail networks of the big cities regions and metropolitan areas. STEMMANN-TECHNIK develops a perfect system for every vehicle type, for every vehicle model and railway network. We realise individual customizations for any application professionally and in time.

Frost Ground Contacts

The mechanical structure of our frost ground contacts fulfils the applicable national and international standards and directives. The material pairings are continually optimized. In the construction or in the direction of working of the carbon brushes, a distinction is made between axial and radial operation contact systems. In the area of standard applications, the traditional round-brush constructions have been replaced by multi-brush constructions. The reasons for this are the higher possible current transmission and the somewhat simpler construction of the contacts. We further developed the successful principle of the multi-brush contacts and derived the successful frost pressure system from it.

RTG Electrification Systems

The RTGs equipped with a diesel-electric-drive are used in harbours all over the world. By means of these RTGs trucks and so-called prime movers are loaded resp. unloaded with the containers of the container ships. Continuously increasing fuel costs, the required time for refuelling oft he cranes, increased maintenance costs for the diesel-electric-drives with the corresponding downtimes as well as tightened environmental regulations led tot he requirements of the crane manufacturers and port operators to as far as possible replace the standard drive by a flexible power transmission. STEMMANN-TECHNIK now has met this demand also by the successful retrofitting of RTGs by means of conductor lines. The advantages of the retrofitting are: Enormous reduction of the amount of diesel-fuel needed. Contrary to the permanently operated diesel-motor, only the actually required amount of energy is used with the external energy supply.Reduction of time and costs due to the shorter maintenance intervals of the diesel-electric-drive.Reduction of costs and work by reduction of the stops for refuelling.Significantly less emissions by the lesser use of the combustion engine and thus better environmental conditions at the site. Depending on the customers requirements and in cooperation with the operators at the site STEMMANN-TECHNIKwill find individual possible solutions to retrofit the RTGs from diesel-electric-drives to electrical power supplies by means of conductor lines or motor cable reels.

Onshore Power Supply

The emissions caused in the port area are a growing problem due to the increasing capacities of the ports. For keeping the vessel functional in the quay area of a port normally the required power is produced by means of auxiliary diesel engines and generators while the main engine is switched off.In the future, a power supply by means of onshore power supply units will replace the diesel-powered vessel generators to a large extent. The implementation of emission limit values and environmental specifications ingeneral additionally expedite this development. We offer systems and system components for feeding onshore power into the onboard power grid and thus contribute to reducing the emissions of air pollutants, noise and carbon dioxide in the port area.

EPower Charging System For Electric Ferry

Operators of short distance eletric ferries choose our charging system to save fuel and reduce CO2 pollution. The closed tower design protects the system components against external influences and fits into the mooring area. As soon as the ferry approaches the rolling gates of the pantograph tower (country side) and the housing (ship side) open automatically. Parallel to the docking of the ferry the loading station is activated by means of an onboard remote control. As soon as the ferry reaches its docking position the charging pantograph connects during seven seconds to the onboard contact bars and the loading of the battery starts. The charging system is able to compensate the tidal range and any movement of the ferry.

Onshore Power Supply For Cruise Ships

The market for ship cruises is continuously growing over the past years. During the last 10 years the number of passengers only in Germany has tripled and currently this trend does not seem to end soon. The frequency of calls at the ports world-wide is constantly rising. As a logical consequence of these growths the problem of exhaust emissions in the ports is increasing. At an average a cruise ship is at the pier 40 % of its operating time. During this time the onboard systems need to be supplied with power. This usually is produced by the ships own diesel generator sets.

Charging PANTO Bus

  • Type Charging Pantograph
  • Design Single-arm
Increasingly strict regulations to reduce pollution in the cities lead to a rapid change of the infrastructure and public transportation network to electric mobility. These are, for example, charging stations for cars or electric bus terminals.Electric busses ensure sustainable urban mobility. The retrofitting of bus routes solely driving with electric buses assumes a rapid development. Solutions are, for example, implemented together with local utility companies by rapid charging stations HPC (High Power Charger). Our charging pantograph is a key component of these charging stations.

Roof-mounted Pantographs

roof-mounted pantographs for tramways, trains, special vehicles, suburban railways, metros, traction units (emus) and locomotives are developed for different overhead line-systems and speeds, whereas the raising to and lowering from the overhead line is realised by an electrical or a pneumatic drive acc. to customers requests.

the continuous contact force to the overhead line at higher speeds is realised either by mechanical aero foils or by an especially developed electro-pneumatic control. if requested an emergency dropping device is quoted which lowers the pantograph as quickly as possible at collisions with the overhead line.
