3A Molecular Sieves

Molecular Sieve Sieve 3A is an alkali alumino silicate. It is the potassium form of the molecular sieve type A and has an effective pore opening of about 3 angstroms (0.3 nm).
Typical Chemical Formula : 0.45 K2O – 0.55Na2O Al2O3 -2SiO2 - nH2O

ApplicationsMolecular Sieves 3A is commonly used for the following applications :

  • Drying of unsaturated hydrocarbons (such as ethylene, propylene & butadiene), cracked gas streams, natural gas where COS minimization is required, methane, ethane and of polar compounds such as methanol and ethanol, 2-Propanol, Acetone, Acetonitrile, Acrylonitrile, Dimethyl Sulfoxide.
  • Static (non regenerative) removal of H2O and volatile organic vapours from gas filled insulating glass units, Sulphur Hexafluoride and from refrigerant gases
  • Molecular Sieve 3A will adsorb molecules with a kinetic diameter of less than 0.3 nm and exclude those larger.

Type : Standard 3A Grade is also available in powder form.

Regeneration : Molecular Sieve 3A can be regenerated by evacuating or purging, usually at elevated temperatures. The purge gas temperature must be sufficiently high to bring the molecular sieve to a level of 1800C to 2500C, but not exceeding 3000C. Higher temperatures may cause physical degradation of the molecular sieve structure. When used to dry streams containing olefins, a purge at lower temperature is advised to prevent polymerization during regeneration. The degree of regeneration depends on the temperature, pressure and humidity of purge gas, and is a strong factor in affecting product purity. It is possible to dry fluids to less than 0.1 ppm H2O, if adequately regenerated.

Shipping Information : Molecular Sieve 3A Grade is available in 150 Kg Air Tight Steel Drum Sealed with inner Liner (Polyethylene bags) for Extra Protection.
