Pusa 1121 Basmati Rice

It is an evolved variety of Pusa Basmati Rice developed by Indian Scientists from IARI [Indian Agricultural Research Institute]. Pusa 1121 Basmati Rice is Known for its extra long length. It is released in the year 2003 for commercial cultivation in kharif season. This rice had become widely popular in the year 2007 with the farmers as Pusa 1121 Basmati Rice has yield of 19 to 20 quintals paddy per acre as compared to 9 to 10 quintals for Traditional Basmati Rice. Indian Non Basmati Raw Rice

Any Rice other than the Indian Basmati Rice is called Indian Non Basmati Raw Rice. In the world it has been reported that there are 10, 000 varieties of rice, the maximum numbers being in India. Indian Non Basmati Raw Rice comes in all kinds of different shapes & sizes. Some are long, thin and slender, some are short & thick, some are like beads and some may be round. Brand name - VINVELEX.
None have the same characteristics as Indian Basmati Rice i.e. they do not have both the aroma & post cooking elongation.   • The rice varieties IR- 64/36 [long grain], medium grains Sona Masoori & Ponni are increasingly used in the Southern States of India. They are the good source of carbohydrates and have good taste, natural aroma and long shelf life.
  • The above Indian Non Basmati Raw Rice varieties are available at most economical prices and are highly demanded in national and international markets.
  • Sona Masoori is also known as Sona Masuri, Samba Masuri, BPT 5204, HMT and Jeela Kara Masuri and largely grown in Indian States of Telengana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. It is light weight and aromatic. This premium variety is mainly exported to various countries. It is low in starch and rich in carbohydrates. It provides energy to the body and promotes proper functioning of heart, brain, lever and kidney. It has some protein in low level. It is both fat free and sodium free.
  • Ponni Rice is a thin, soft and very popular variety in South India. The rice when cooked is soft, separate and swells/expands only lengthwise resulting in long. It has higher fibre content and easily digestible. This rice variety is also exported in large quantities to various countries.
  • IR- 64/36 rice is the major source of carbohydrates and good taste. They find extensive use in South Indian dishes/meals, being exported in large quantities especially to African Countries.
