EXTENSION PIG BARRELS

For pipelines having short launcher / receiver barrels, VKVC designs, manufactures, tests, installs and commissions extension barrels for existing pig barrels. These barrels extend the length of the launcher / receiver. Adaptors are custom made to suit any make of quick opening end closure (QOEC) / quick opening closure (QOC) available over extension barrels. VKVC extension barrels enables intelligent pigging to be carried out on the existing barrels. A major advantage is that no hot work is required for installation of the extension barrels. Casing Insulators

Casings are used to protect pipelines. These pipelines usually run along highways, railway lines or regions with high activity. The pipeline is needed to be separated from the pipeline. VKVC casing insulators are tubular pipe supports; that electrically insulate the pipe and prevent damage. Electrical insulation is required to prevent shorting between the carrier pipe and the casing.

PIG HANDLING SYSTEM

In addition to pigs and launchers and receivers, VKVC also provides pig handling systems and jib cranes. Being equipped with pig handling systems is a must for pig stations and facilities. Loading and unloading the pigs are key points where accidents resulting in danger to manpower and equipment damage can occur. The pig handling system can be manual or hydraulic. A crane alone is not sufficient to handle pigs as it is difficult to maneuver the pig in and out of the pipeline. Also a jib crane alone cannot ensure if the front cup is correctly positioned in the reducer at the pig launcher. VKVC pig handling systems are designed and engineered to ensure safe operation.

VKVC Pig Launchers AND Receivers

Multiple pig launchers are designed to allow the sequential launching of pigs and spheres. Using our automatic multiple pig launching system a series of pigs can be launched into a pipeline without having to repeatedly depressurise and re-pressurise after each pig launch. The process can also be controlled from a remote location. This is particularly relevant on unmanned platforms such as offshore platforms and sour service applications. Sphere release fingers on sphere launchers are used to control the release of a series of spheres into a pipeline.

VKVC will design pig launcher and receiver systems which are 'tailor-made' to meet specific operational requirements.VKVC manufactures extension Pig Barrels to extend major barrel length of Existing Pig Barrels. Extension Pig Barrels consist of one quick opening closure and one adaptor to hook up the extension Barrel to existing Pig Barrel QOEC. PIN HOLE LEAK REPAIR CLAMPS

A Pin-Hole Leak Repair Clamp is a pipeline repair technology that is used when the leakage in the pipeline is of very small or minute size. Installation of these clamps is very simple. SCRAPER LAUNCHER

Unavailability or lack of proper dedicated pig/scraper launcher and receiver facilities may cause a pipeline that is traditionally accepted as piggable to be considered non-piggable. HOW TO PIG NON PIGGABLE LINES? The best or ideal pipeline for pigging is when the following conditions are met

  • A straight pipeline
  • A uniformly round internal diameter without any change in wall thickness and weld penetration
  • Internal surface is polished
  • No valves or offtakes

In reality all of these conditions are rarely met and in certain cases none are met.
In certain cases if proper considerations are not taken into account then the line can be completely unpiggable.

Quick Opening Closures

Quick opening closures are pressure retaining structures designed to provide access to pipelines and pressure vessels.Our Quick Closures provide safe and quick access to pipeline and pressure vessels. They are built to meet all required international design codes and can be used in horizontal, vertical, inclined or declined applications. We offer Clamp, Bayonet and Ring lock Closures as required by Clients. Approved Design ASME VIII Div.1.states that "Quick-actuating or quick opening closures are those that permit substantially faster access to the contents space of a pressure vessel than would be expected with a standard bolted flange connection. The requirements of other pressure vessel codes, such as ASME VIII Div. 2 and PD5500 can be complied with as well as ASME U code stamps. This code stamping confirms that the quick opening closure has gone through rigorous shop inspection by an ASME Authorized Inspector. We offer EN 10204 3.1 & EN 10204 3.2 certification as required. Monolithic Insulating Joints

Insulating Joints are used on pipelines to provide electrical isolation to prevent corrosion. They provide current spreading on cathodic protection systems. They provide electrical separation between pipeline section and the adjoining neighboring structures and pipelines. Wherever practical, the VKVC insulating joint is intended to be installed above the ground, or in an inspection pit in dry conditions to limit the possibility of electrical bridging across the joint. It is intended to be girth welded between two pipeline sections.

Composite Wrap Bandages

Composite wraps or bandages are similar to tapes; they are wrapped over the defective pipes in layers in conjunction with a putty after surface preparation of the pipe. VKVC composite leak repair bandages are used for repair of metal, plastic, PVC, copper, rubber, concrete, composite pipes etc. The composite generally used is fiberglass reinforced material with a water-activated polyurethane resin coating.
