Anastrozole tablets contain a substance called anastrozole. This belongs to a group of medicines called ‘aromatase inhibitors’. Anastrozole tablets are used to treat breast cancer in women who have gone through the menopause.
Anastrozole tablets work by cutting down the amount of the hormone called estrogen that your body makes. It does this by blocking a natural substance (an enzyme) in your body called ‘aromatase'.

This medication is used along with prednisone to treat men with prostate cancer that has spread to other areas of the body. How is Temodal used?Treatment with Temodal should be prescribed by a doctor with experience in the treatment of brain tumours.
The dose of Temodal depends on body surface area (calculated using the patient’s height and weight) and ranges from 75 to 200 mg per square metre, once a day. The dose and the number of doses depend on the type of tumour being treated, whether the patient has been treated before, whether Temodal is being used alone or with radiotherapy, and how the patient responds to treatment.

How does Temodal work?The active substance in Temodal, temozolomide, belongs to a group of anticancer medicines called alkylating agents. In the body, temozolomide is converted to another compound called MTIC. MTIC binds to the DNA of cells while they are reproducing, which stops cell division. As a result, the cancer cells cannot divide, slowing down the growth of tumours.

Side EffectsNausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, tiredness, weakness, headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping, or changes in taste may occur. Nausea and vomiting can be severe. In some cases, your doctor may prescribe medication to prevent or relieve nausea and vomiting. Eating several small meals, not eating before treatment, or limiting activity may help lessen some of these effects. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Diarrhea is a common side effect of this medication. Drink plenty of fluids unless directed otherwise. Your doctor may also prescribe medication (such as loperamide) to help lessen diarrhea. Vomiting or diarrhea that doesn’t stop may result in a serious loss of body water (dehydration). Xtane is an aromatase inhibitor which is used for the adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with estrogen-receptor positive early breast cancer who have received two to three years of Tamoxifen and are switched to Xtane for completion of a total of five consecutive years of adjuvant hormonal therapy. It is also used for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women whose disease has progressed following Tamoxifen therapy.

This medication is used along with prednisone to treat men with prostate cancer that has spread to other areas of the body. Abiraterone belongs to a class of drugs known as anti-androgens (anti-testosterone). Testosterone, a natural hormone, helps prostate cancer to grow and spread. Abiraterone works by blocking the production of testosterone, thereby slowing the growth and spread of prostate cancer.

Take this medication by mouth on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food) as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. Taking abiraterone with food greatly increases the amount of this drug in your body and increases the risk of side effects.
Swallow whole. Do not crush or chew before swallowing. Pregnant women should wear gloves if handling the tablets. If the tablet is crushed or broken, women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not handle it or breathe the dust from it (see also Precautions section).
