Decorative laminatesarelaminatedproducts primarily used asfurniture surface materials. Decorative laminates are usually used for wardrobes and furniture tops especially on flat surfaces, including cabinets and tables. Decorative compact laminates are sometimes constructed as toilet cubicle systems, laboratory tables and kitchen tops. The laminate sheets are made up of three layers: the bottom layer of brown paper coated with phenol resin, a second layer of paper decorated with the desired pattern, and a third layer of clear sheet. Both the second and third layers are coated withmelamine resin.

Blockboard is made up of a core of softwood strips. These strips may be up to about 25mm wide. The strips are placed edge to edge and sandwiched between veneers of hardwood. The sandwich is then glued under high pressure. Blockboard may be used to make shelves, doors, panelling, cabinets, wardrobes, furniture etc. Each timber used in block board is kiln-dried sawn timber which is sandwiched between core ply. It has very high vertical load bearing strength and hence suitable for vertical applications, such as doors, cupboards, panels and partition walls. These are chemically treated to resist termites and borers. It also has good resistance to warping. Block boards are available in 16mm, 19mm, 20mm, and 25mm sizes.
