Thermo System Anti-Condensation Heaters provides low cost protection against  condensation within  rotating electrical equipment. The electric motor anti-condensation heater is specially designed for moisture proofing. Typical applications would  be electric motors, generators and alternators  which operate in damp or wet conditions. Examples would include off shore, shipboard and marine equipment, dockside  cranes, well pumps and all equipment operating in a  tropical environment. Complete Protection from burning of winding     Thermo System Thermistors are manufactured in accordance with DIN 44081 and 44082. In three phase motors, one Thermistor should be embedded in each phase. Good thermal coupling between Thermistor and winding is essential. The resistance increases sharply in the region of the nominal response temperature. Because the PTC assemblies are very small and rugged, they can be located in compact locations where protec­tion is needed, such as directly inside the motor wind­ings and can withstand standard varnish dip and bake operations and other handling. In the range of the nominal alternating temperature the resistance increases sharply. This change can be used by a relay to disconnect the load circuit. Electronic evaluation circuits in widely varying applications are also possible. The resistance temperature diagram shows the typical characteristics of the Thermo System PTC. Load must not be applied to the thermistors as this creates a self-heating effect. At ambient temperature the resistance value of thermistors is normally between 30 and 250 Ω. At ambient temperature the resistance values have no relevance to the serviceability (functionality) at the ROT (rated operating temperature).The ROT of PTC-thermistors in the range of +60°C to +190°C progresses normally in steps of 10 K.

Flat, laminated “stick” RTDs fit in slots between stator windings to monitor temperature rise and prevent overheating. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) recognizes embedded detectors as a standard protection for motor and generator insulation. Unlike on-off devices, RTDs provide continuous sensing for earlier warning without unnecessary tripouts. The sensing elements of stator RTDs extend through most of the body length to provide an average temperature reading. This eliminates the danger of a point-type sensor missing a localized hot spot. Six sensors are recommended for each motor, two per phase. Locate sensors near the hottest point of the windings for best performance.. This RTD are generally flat type in construction and are available in various sizes. Thermo stator RTDs meet the specifications of ANSI C50.10-1990, general requirements for synchronous motors.

The Brain that provides round the clock protection for your electric motor     The Thermistor Protection Relay TSDIN01 is used for tripping motors, transformers etc. whenever the excessive temperature developes in the winding.The Relay controlled by thermistors guarantee first of all the thermal overload protection of electrical machines. The switching point of the complete protection is specified by the nominal response temperature of the used thermistors. Appliances with two input circuits offer the possibility of warning and shut-off.           The thermistor Protection Relay TSDIN01 can be combined with all thermistors with a characteristic curve according to DIN 44081 / 082           Function and Applications     After mounting the thermistor detectors into e.g. the winding tips of the protected motors, the release is connected. The number of the connectable PTC according to DIN is only limited by its total resistance R 25 . If the temperature in one of the controlled parts or areas increases over the nominal response temperature of the respective PTC sensor e.g. by:           Blocking rotor Aggravated start-up Counter current operation Under-voltage or phases break down           So this becomes high resistive and the thermistor release shuts off the motor protection switch over a relay. Dependent on the type of release a switch-back occurs after cooling down of about 2 .. 5 K. For cases of application at which an automatic re-start is not suggestive or not acceptable, thermistor release device with power-on blocking are available.   RTD Introduction     Thermo’s platinum resistance elements are specially designed to ensure precise and repeatable temperature versus resistance characteristics. The sensors are made with controlled purity platinum, have high purity ceramic components and constructed in a unique strain-free manner.           RTDs are best for most industrial measurements over a wide temperature range, especially when sensor stability is essential for proper control. Generally speaking, if accuracy is your most important concern and the application temperature is between 140°C and 650°C RTDs are probably the best choice. Three-wire is the most common but four-wire provides higher system accuracy.
