Built on decades of Kongsberg table innovations integrated with Esko software solutions, the Kongsberg C66 is the largest digital cutting table for heavy-duty corrugated production. It was developed based on market demand as part of Kongsberg’s robotics program. The Packaging & Specialty Plastics business of The Dow Chemical Company is launching its latest innovation at interpack 2017. It’s a brand-new adhesive solution which, according to Dow, will help to maximize resource efficiency, favorably influence packaging cost, enhance recyclability and optimize the shelf-life of food packaging. Dow’s innovative ADCOTETM L86-500 barrier adhesive enables the replacement of PET, metallized and aluminium-based packaging structures with an all-polyolefin solution which is easily recyclable in existing processes. Key enabler of the all-polyolefin package from Dow is the ADCOTE L86-500 Barrier Adhesive. Designed for medium barrier applications, it can provide additional protection against oxygen and moisture. The adhesive can help enable the production of a packaging that is recyclable in standard recycling schemes, resource efficient and has the same shelf-life performance as PET-based packaging. First all-polyolefin packages enabled by the new adhesive are showcased at interpack 2017 for aroma- and barrier-sensitive applications, such as coffee and cereal pouches, snack and dry pet food packs as well as wet wipes packages.

Tetra Pak has extended its leadership in the fast growing on-the-go beverage market with two new portion size packages, the Tetra Prisma Aseptic 200 and 250 Edge with DreamCap 26. Building on the success of the stylish Tetra Prisma Aseptic 330 ml with DreamCap, the new packages offer consumers smaller size options with the same re-sealable one-step closure for an optimized drinking experience. More than 40% of global consumers are snacking while on-the-go at least once a week, with fortified milk, drinking yogurt and energy drinks among their favourite choices. Yet for some, a portion size of 330 ml or more may simply make them feel too full. This means huge market potential for portion packages under 250 ml, worldwide demand for which is anticipated to grow to 72 billion litres by 2019, up 10% from current volumes, according to Tetra Pak studies.
