Main Uses Zinc Diethyldithiocarbamate is very fast curing but too scorchy to be used as a sole accelerator in a dry rubber compound. Also known as ZDEC, it is widely used as a booster-cum-accelerator to speed up the thiazoles and sulphenamides based systems giving fast curing yet reasonable safe combinations. Mixtures of TMTD and ZDEC are valuable as fastest curing accelerator for Butyl rubber. It is also very useful for transparent rubber formulations. Compounding Suggestion ZDEC is used in the proportion of 0.25-0.5 PHR with 1-3phr Sulphur in dry rubber. If used as a secondary accelerator or booster, then a dosage of 0.05-1phr of ZDEC, along with MBT / MBTs dosage of 0.5-1. OPHR MBT / MBTS and 1.5 PHR sulphur, is also used.
