Cold Work Tool Steel Plates AISI O-1

Cold-work tool steels are high carbon steels that are further classified into three subgroups such as oil-hardening steels, high-carbon, high-chromium steels, and air-hardening steels. Oil-hardening cold-work steels are also known as group o steels consisting of o1, o2, o6, and o7 types. Type o1 oil-hardening cold-work steel consists of chromium, manganese, and tungsten and is relatively inexpensive. The following datasheet provides details about o1 type.Fabrication and heat treatment machinability the machinability of o1 steels is very good with a rating of 90% that of water hardening low alloy steels. Forming o1 steels can be easily formed in the annealed condition using conventional methods. Hardening o1 steels should be heated uniformly to 780-820c (1436-1508f) until completely heated through. If needed, the steels can be preheated at 300-500c (572-932f). About 30 minper 25 mm of ruling section is to be provided and then the steels should be immediately quenched in oil.

Aisi d2 is a high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel alloyed with molybdenum and vanadium characterized by: * high wear resistance* high compressive strength* good through-hardening properties* high stability in hardening* good resistance to tempering-back. Applications: aisi d2 is recommended for tools requiring very high wear resistance, combined with moderate toughness (shock-resistance).Deep drawing and forming dies, cold drawing punches, hobbing, blanking, lamination and stamping dies, shear blades, burnishing rolls, master tools and gauges, slitting cutters, thread rolling & wire dies, extrusion dies etc heat treatment: soft annealingprotect the steel and heat through to 1560f (850c).Then cool in the furnace at 20f (10c) per hour to 1200f (650c), then freely in air. Stress relieving: after rough machining the tool should be heated through to 1200f (650c), holding time 2 hours.Cool slowly to 930f (500c), then freely in air hardening:preheating temperature: 11101290f (650750c).Austenitizing temperature: 18101920f (9901050c) but usually 18301905f (10001040c).
