Chemical Inertness to all known chemicals however attacked by molten alkali metals, chlorine, trifluorides, fluorine & related fluorine complexes at elevated temperatures & pressure.

Resistance to Solvents, insoluable in all solvents upto 260 C. Certain high fluorinated oils swell & dissolve PTFE at temperature close to crystalline melting point.

Wide operating temperature range -250 C + 260 C, at atmospheric pressure.

Lowest coefficient of friction among all known metals & non-metals.

Nontoxic & antistick properties.

Negligible water absorption.

Filled PTFE (Teflon®) gaskets are made from PTFE which integrates additives and fillers in order to improve the performance of the gasket. This improves the gaskets ability to wear and enhances its unique combination of chemical, physical and electrical properties.While PTFE gasket material is exceptional in it’s range of temperature (to 500 F) and PH range (0-14) it has limitations on the thickness available. Most PTFE sheet is skived off of a roll. Some material is molded but this is generally limited to 24″ x 24″ or 12″ x 12″ sections.

• Natural Rubber – Excellent physical properties including abrasion and low temperature resistance. Poor resistance to petroleum-based fluids.
• Urethane – Good aging and excellent abrasion, tear, and solvent resistance. Poor high temperature properties.
• Neoprene – Good weathering resistance. Flame retarding. Moderate resistance to petroleum-based fluids. Good physical properties.
• Nitrile – Excellent resistance to petroleum-based fluids. Good physical properties.
• Butyl – Very good weathering resistance. Excellent dielectric properties. Low permeability to air. Good physical properties. Poor resistance to petroleum-based fluids.
• EPDM – Excellent ozone, chemical, and aging resistance. Poor resistance to petroleum-based fluids.
• Styrene Butadiene (Buna-S, SBR) – Excellent abrasion resistance and low temperature properties. High resilience.
• Silicone – Excellent high and low temperature properties. Fair physical properties.
• Hypalon – Excellent ozone, weathering, and acid resistance. Good abrasion and heat resistance. Fair resistance to petroleum-based fluids.
