Handmade Shellac

The shellac of commerce is a hard, tough and amorphous substance consisting of a sold solution of many complex condensates, together with small but varying amounts of associated products like :

• Colouring Matter
• An odoriferous principle
• Wax

The many varieties of shellac resin differ primarily in color as well as properties. The type of tree, climate conditions, the region where harvested, and the time of year harvested all play a role in determining the different colors and grades of shellac.
Hand made shellac is produced by properly blending Seedlac into long narrow cloth bag and heating one end over charcoal fire and the other end is attached to a windless and is gradually twisted. The heat produced by the charcoal fire melts the lac which is forced out through the cloth by pressure. The molten lac is scraped out and drawn into sheets manually and left to dry. This process requires considerable manual skill and long experience.
Grades In Hand Made Shellac :

• SSF Hand Made Lemon Shellac- an excellent general purpose shellac light yellow creamy colour.
• SSF Light Pure Button Lac- Light Pure is similar in shade to Orange, but with a apricot tint.
• SSF Kusmi Button Lac- Develops rich tones on woods like mahogany, red oak, cherry and douglas fir.
• SSF Bysakhi Button Lac-is a hard resin, warm brownish in color, a good choice for floors.

• Resin & Orphinment : Free from Rosin and Orphiment
• Flow : As agreed between the buyer and seller
• Heat Polymerisation : As agreed between the buyer and seller at a temperatire of 150 degree Centigrade
