Ball Float Steam Trap

  • Type Steam Traps
  • Pressure High
  • Material Stainless Steel
  • Installation Horizontal/Vertical position.
  • Optional Ibr/non-ibr, with Thermostatic Air Vent, Inbuilt Strainer
  • Sizes Available 15 NB, 20 NB and 25 NB

The enthalpy in the steam basically has two components : The Latent heat and the Sensible heat. Whereas condensate has only sensible heat. This condensate has to be removed as soon as it is formed, because it hinders to efficient heat transfer as well as leads to water hammer phenomenon as it is hot water (having more Specific Gravity) that moves with high velocity of steam (8 to 10 times higher than water), carrying enough momentum to rupture pipes and which is damaging to the plant pipelines as well as piping equipments. Hence, need to remove condensate from steam main and trap steam. This is done by steam trap.
UKL Ball Float Trap discharge condensate near to steam saturation temperature, which works on the principle of Buoyancy, [densities difference of Water and Steam].The rising condensate level elevates the Float open the valve and discharges the condensate. When the level of condensate drops, the float falls down and the valve close the trap.
It is commonly used for most process heating applications. Wherever steam is used for indirect heating application, the trap to be used must be of mechanical design. It is a continuous discharge type steam trap. This trap can handle very high condensate loads and the discharge will be proportional to the differential pressure across the trap. There may be other similar process applications where the heat load is small and a mechanical trap can handle small as well as fluctuating loads.
This trap is provided with two optional features called Steam Lock release (SLR) and Thermostatic Vent (TV). The SLR is a manual operation to release steam that may hamper free movement of the float on water level. The TV will ensure that air and such un dissolved gases will be automatically vented out when present in condensate.

The thermodynamic traps separate condensate and steam based on velocity which in case of steam is higher than that of condensate. These are used mainly on drip lines of the main steam distribution line, platen presses and super heated steam lines to remove condensate.
Condensate pressure is used to open the trap by lifting the disc, discharging condensate in low pressure. Due to low pressure flashing of condensate takes place. High flash steam velocity (approximately 5 times of condensate) creates a low pressure zone below the disc. Accumulated flash steam force over the disc becomes greater than the incoming condensate pressure this leads to closure of the disc. Subsequently the flash steam condenses and the incoming higher pressure condensate pushes the disc opening the trap and thus the cycle continues. The UTD 120 is a steam trap with integral strainer specifically designed to meet above application.
UTD 120 is a Thermodynamic Steam Trap manufactured in forged Alloy Steel construction. It is a very rugged design built for high pressure applications such as in power plants. Also used for superheated applications.

Piston Valve

  • Min. Order (MOQ) 5 Nos
  • Brand Name Uni Klinger
  • Model no. KVN-15-50
  • End Connections Flanged #150/#300/ DIN PN40
  • Applications Steam, Thermic fluids, Acids, Gases, vacuum and other critical media.
  • Available Sizes 15, 20, 25, 32, 40 and 50 NB [32 NB available in DIN Overall length only]
  • Material of Construction ASTM A216 Gr. WCB, ASTM A351 Gr.CF8M (On Request)

THE PISTON VALVE principle is a KLINGER idea. One of many ideas which has achieved world-wide recognition. Continuously modified and matched to modern requirement, the piston Valve has provided itself by the millions throughout the world. Today we can say with pride that our group is worlds largest manufacturer of valves, based on this design principle. KLINGER Piston valve performance is backed by central R & D of KLINGER at Switzerland.
The shut off assembly comprises of a stainless steel piston, two resilient valve rings and a ferrous metal lantern bush. The sealing consists of the cylindrical surface of the piston and the corresponding inner surface area of the sealing rings. This provides a very large sealing compared with globe valves with conventional design- one of the reasons for the Piston valve’s excellent seal.
The valve Rings are the heart of the piston valve. They are made from KXGT, a material specially developed and exclusively used for the manufacture of valve ring. KXGT consists essentially of asbestos, a high quality elastomer and graphite. KLINGER valve rings are not merely surface graphited; the graphite content extends throughout the ring. For this reason its outstanding self lubricating properties are retained throughout the rings entire service life. KLINGER valve rings are resilient, accurately dimensioned and in consequence of their good recovery characteristics have excellent form retention and long service life. KLINGER valve rings are resistant to water, steam, oils, solvents and wide range of other media. KLINGER valve rings can be used for more than 230 listed fluid media.

Features  :

  • Seatless and Gland less valve.
  • Economic, easy to service.
  • No erosion of sealing surface.
  • Maintenance free.
  • Compensation for thermal expansion with use of
  • Belleville washer.
  • Leak-tight across ports and to atmosphere.

On Request :

  • IBR/Non-IBR
  • MOC : Cast Stainless / Alloy Steel
  • Valve with extended spindle.
  • Valve with Heating Jacket
  • Pneumatic / Electrical Actuator

Installation :Preferred direction is as per arrow, however this valve is a Bi Directional Valve. This valve can be installed in any position without any adverse effect on performance, seal ability or flow.Due to soft sealing principle it is advisable to install a strainer upstream of the valve to avoid damage to the rings caused by weld slag, metal and other solid impurities.
