Alkyl Ketene Dimer
Alkyl Ketene Dimer (AKDWAX) is pale yellow waxy flake solid; it is widely used in the paper industry as sizing agent. After sizing with AKD emulsion, it can make paper less water absorbing and controls its printing properties.
Fixing agents are used to improve retention of internal sizing agents and to enhance sizing degree. They also reduce machine deposits caused from internal sizing agent.
Composition: There is an extremely diverse set of chemical formulations that can be effective either to prevent foam (anti-foam) or to destroy it once it has formed (defoamer). Actually the distinction between these two terms is usually ignored. Most foam-fighting chemicals can serve either role.
