Activated carbon desiccant is also used to remove the moisture from a wide range of industrial and commercial products. But, it gives highly effective results in removing the odor particles from the product packaging and large shipping containers. They have extremely large surface area as compared to other desiccant; therefore they act as an excellent adsorbent. Blue silica gel has the tendency to absorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture. This can easily be observed when the beads get changed from blue state to pink state. As it contains Cobalt Chloride II, therefore it is not recommended for the residential use. Silica gel can remove the moisture at maximum temperature 220ºF, at room temperature from 70 to 90ºF and at high 60 – 90% Relative Humidity (RH).

Orange silica gel is more preferred as compared to blue silica gel. This silica gel contains an organic substance as the indicating agent with the ability to remove moisture from the products. Its orange color changes to green when it gets saturated. It is highly environmental safe desiccant as this product does not have any kind of foreign impurities such as chlorides, sulphates and other types of organic matters. Orange indicating silica gel packets have higher adsorption efficiency and are widely used in various applications and industries where the protection of packaging products or goods from moisture or humidity is the main concern.
