An electrostatic precipitator, commonly known as ESP is basically an electrical equipment where high DC voltage is used to separate dust particles from flue gases in many industrial processes. Due to its many-fold advantages like low pressure drop, low sensitivity to high temp. & aggressive gases, high collecting efficiency well in excess of 99% and low maintenance, electrostatic precipitator has gained popularity over other dust collectors.
Major components of ESP are
Principle of electrostatic precipitation has four distinct phases i.e. ionization or corona generation, charging of particles, migration & precipitation of particles & removal of deposited dust.
Flue gas carrying dust particles enters the ESP casing through inlet funnel & gets homogeneously distributed throughout the ESP cross section while passing through the inlet gas distribution screen.
High negative DC voltage is imparted through emitting / discharge electrodes creating an electrical field / corona around it. Dust particles carried by the gas while passing through the electrical field is charged to saturation & electrical force causes the charged particles to migrate towards the grounded collecting electrode of opposite polarity where they are deposited as dust layer. As soon as a substantially thick layer of dust is formed, vibration of the collecting electrodes is actuated by the use of rapping mechanism using tumbling hammers, thereby dislodging the accumulated dust layer into collecting hoppers placed below ESP casing and is evacuated through the dust disposal system. Discharge electrodes are also provided with similar rapping system to dislodge small amount of dust collected on them. Ultimately treated flue gas is passed through ID fan to stack.
Bag filters are Dry type air pollution control equipment that discards suspended particulate matters out of flue gas, released from material handling or from combustion for electricity generation or from liquefying hot metals. They are generally suited to withstand temperatures up to 250C and have a particulate accumulation efficiency of as high as 99.99%, even when particle size is in sub-micron range.
Filter bags are suspended from a Tube sheet at the top of the collector and are internally supported by cylindrical wire cages to prevent them from collapsing. The dust laden Gas enters into the Bag Filter through the Hopper or casing by suction or positive pressure created by the ID Fan downstream. The heavier dust particles falls immediately into the hopper after striking the baffle plate while the lighter dust gets deposited on the outer surface of the hanging filter bags. A predetermined pulsing cycle is programmed to energize the Solenoid Valves which dislodge the dust cake from the outer surface of the filter bags. The dust falls into the hopper. The filter bags are cleaned either by time mode sequencing or by differential pressure mode.
Two types of Bag filters are available in the Market On Line type & Off Line type.
In an On Line Bag Filter, bags are cleaned Row by row even when the dust laden Gas is filtered. The sequence of cleaning is controlled automatically by sequence controller.
In an Off line Bag Filter each compartment is similar to an on line Bag Filter. The cleaning process consists of sequentially isolating each compartment by actuating pneumatically operated Damper & cleaning the same with compressed air. Thus all the compartments are cleaned automatically one by one.
Off line cleaning is suitable for very light & fine dust with larger Gas volume where occurrence of fluidization is a distinct possibility.
Wet scrubbing system is one of the most dynamic particles collecting equipment among others, having very high particle accumulation competence sometimes exceeding 90%. It can utilize heavy inlet volumes even at high temperatures, facilitates to eliminate almost all the fragments without clogging. They can be employed to control fly ash and gaseous acidic emission from industrial boilers.
Major components of Wet Scrubbing system are:
While Ventury scrubber comprises of a converging section, a throat section and a diverging section. The dust laden Gas enters into Wet Scrubbing system by suction created by the ID Fan downstream. Water or desired chemical are turbulently blended with the flue gas through flooded elbow .As the inlet flue gas arrives at the throat, its velocity escalates immensely controlled by Ventury throat. These liquid incorporating the particles are cleared away from the scrubber outlet stream and carried forward to Moisture separator. Tangential entry of gases transmits a centrifugal force which stimulates it to spin. Particles are hurled outwardly from the spinning gas by the centrifugal force to the separator wall. Within the separator, the approaching gas containing heavier particles spirals down near the dust discharge and clean gas regresses towards the outlet through a mist eliminator by eliminating moisture from the same. Water spread through elbow gets recirculated to the system with maximum 2% allowable solid content by volume.
Heat Exchangers are supplied as pre-assembled units for easy and fast installation. The reliable and proven gas cooling technology allows use of recovered heat for drying, combustion etc.
The dust laden air enters the Heat exchanger through the shell which causes ambient air to circulate externally with the help of ID fans causing cooling of temperature. Heavier dust particle drop in to the hopper while cooled gas at 16-180 deg C passes through the Bag filter / ESP. The unique scraping system removes accumulated dust from the tubes for Horizontal tubes Heat Exchanger which causes dust to fall into the hopper and is removed through the discharge device.
Cyclones are available in carbon steel, stainless steel or high alloy MOC. Refractory or ceramic lined units are also available for the use of high temperature applications.
For efficient system design and operation it is also necessary to consider the dust characteristics such as stickiness, abrasive flow ability etc. our equipment is designed for suitable configuration depending on the efficiency and space requirements considering high dust collection efficiency at low pressure drop.
A damper is a valve or plate that stops or regulates the flow of air inside a duct, chimney, VAV box, air handler, or other air-handling equipment. A damper may be used to cut off / control flue gas / air in industrial sector.
Its operation can be manual or automatic. Manual dampers are turned by a handle on the outside of a duct. Automatic dampers are used to regulate airflow constantly and are operated by electric or pneumatic motors, in turn controlled by a thermostat or building automation system. Automatic or motorized dampers may also be controlled by a solenoid, and the degree of air-flow calibrated, perhaps according to signals from the thermostat going to the actuator of the damper in order to modulate the flow of air-conditioned air in order to effect climate control.
Centrifugal fans are constant displacement devices or constant volume devices, meaning that, at a constant fan speed, a centrifugal fan moves a relatively constant volume of air rather than a constant mass.
Our fans are designed with high efficiency and robust design ranging capacity from 1000M3/hr to 2, 50, 000M3/hr.
