SANDS make of AMR Modem SAM-1101 is a smart electricity meter reading device that can be connected to any make of electronic energy meter by means of optical/ RS232 port, which is compliant to DLMS IEC 62056-21 standard. The electricity meters measuring energy consumption can be located in either consumer premises or in distribution transformers. The modem draws its power from the meter terminal block and connects to the communication port of the meter. Thus this add-on energy meter reading system is non-intrusive and can be retrofitted easily to any meter. The Electricity Meter Reading device uses GSM/GPRS communication technology and has built-in intelligence to talk to the DLMS meter. AMR system is compatible with 4G network to push the power consumption-billing data, load survey data, and event data to a cloud-based server, with fallback options to 3G & 2G.

GPS NTP Time Server (SYNTIME) for Network Time Synchronization is a highly accurate time server. It generates time protocols to synchronize NTP/SNTP clients (Simple Network Time Protocol)/PTP clients (Precision time protocol IEEE 1588) over the network and operates at a speed of 10/100/1000Mbps. The NTP server accepts the time and frequency signals from sources like GPS or GLONASS. It achieves nanosecond accuracy and the system clock operates at stratum 1 when synchronized with time sources. It is a sleek, rack-mountable unit that synchronizes and maintains equipment/device time and avoiding any time drifts due to local RTCs. NTP output from time server supports unicast, broadcast, and multicast methods based on selection and behaves like a reference clock for the network. Apart from time synchronization protocols, it supports MD5 (Security key), SNMP, SSH, HTTP (Configuration), TELNET, FTP, and SYSLOG. IP address of the LAN ports can be field configurable.
SANDS DCU is an ideal gateway solution for the Energy Management System (EnMS). It provides connectivity to the cloud apart from data collection, local data storage. DCU is based on ARM Cortex-A5 processor having 512MB of DDR2 memory and expandable NAND Flash memory upto 2GB. Edge / Sensor data can be stored locally using the on-board SD card option. The cloud interface is LTE with 2G/3G fall back.

FEATURES
One of the major advantages of going for Sub-GHz wireless communication technology is long-range. Longer the range, the cheaper the deployment cost since fewer repeaters are required. SUB-GHz RF signals can travel longer distances for given output power and receiver sensitivity. One way to increase the range is to increase the transmit power of the signal. But this comes at the cost of high power consumption. There are several ICs that provide integrated power amplifier. But the key here is the efficiency of the power amplifier. In SANDS Sub-GHz module, Microchips AT86RF215M SUB-GHz chip requires only 62mA to output +14 dBm in the 865 MHz frequency band.

OPAL can be interfaced with the portable printer for spot billing applications. OPAL LITE comes with Linux Operating System. OPAL is available in memory sizes ranging from 128 MB to 16 GB.
GPS Slave Clock - The large display is equipped with an accurate quartz clock which synchronizes with Time signals like NTP, IRIG-B and RS485/RS232. The display is wall/panel / tabletop mountable. The cabinet is made up of Mild Steel or Aluminium or Stainless steel as per customer requirements. The Display can show either UTC time or local time.
