The inside diameter of theCylinder Linersis plateau honed by CNC machines in accordance with technically required micron, to obtain the desired surface roughness quality.

Shriram Automotive offers a wide range ofCylinder Linershaving bore diameters ranging from 60 to 250 millimeters, for a variety of applications covering most Indian heavy and light commercial vehicles, tractors, jeeps and car segments, in addition to various international applications.

Cylinder heads are produced mainly in cast iron, though the company is developing aluminium heads for specific applications. These casting are made at one of the shriram group's own foundries which is the largest, and technically the most advanced, in the country. The cylinder heads are manufactured using shell moulding casting process to achieve a uniform wall thickness of the water jacket. The casting and the water passages are cleaned using the shot blasting process, and the heads are machined using highly sophisticated cnc machines that yield excellent dimensional accuracy. Advanced testing using processes like metallurgical testing, hydro-pressure testing and vacuum testing is carried out to ensure delivery of a defect free product to the customer.

TheCrankshaftsare forged using medium carbon alloy steel with annealing and normalizing. Further, the forgings are shot blasted to achieve a superior finish on the forging surface, and meticulous crack detection tests are carried out a Magnaflux crack detector. TheCrankshafts' journals are hardened using AEG-Elotherm equipment to ensure uniform hardness and hardness depth; moreover, the journals are ground, lapped and polished with precision grinders and micro polishing machines. TheCrankshaftsare dynamically balanced using machinery from Hoffman of Germany. All the dimensional parameters of theseCrankshaftsare controlled in accordance with international norms and standards.
