Advancement in field of Mechanical science has brought about revolution in automobile industry. It can be constant and variable but its relationship with time, velocity and acceleration configure its type. That''s why it can be elaborated in its true sense through tools of mathematics. Linear speed of an automobile is considered the fastest possible that a specific automobile can experience. Various forms of energy such as gasoline, heating oil and diesel are used in mechanical systems of almost all automobiles. Depends on the variety of power transmission system these sources of energy are converted into mechanical energy. Linear motion is the fastest type of motion because it is straight and faces very little resistance. Mechanical propulsion system actually governs the assembly lines in automobiles.
A gearbox provides speed and torque conversions from a rotating power source to another device using gear ratios. The most common use is in motor vehicles, where the gearbox adapts the output of the internal combustion engines to the drive wheels. Such engines need to operate at a relatively high rotational speed, which is inappropriate for starting, stopping, and slower travel. The gearbox reduces the higher engine speed to the slower wheel speed, increasing torque in the process. Gearbox is also used on pedal bicycles, fixed machines, and anywhere else rotational speed and torque needs to be adapted. Often, a gearbox will have multiple gear ratios (or simply "gears"), with the ability to switch between them as speed varies. This switching may be done manually (by the operator), or automatically. Directional (forward and reverse) control may also be provided. Single-ratio gearbox also exist, which simply change the speed and torque (and sometimes direction) of motor output.
Plastic Industry, at present, uses worm reduction gear boxes in extrusion and blow moulding plants, which creates many problems continous production works. Like oil leakage, over heating, noise, wear & tear of bronze worm wheel, etc... For bigger sizes water cooling is provided for better efficiency of gear box.
Coupling is a connecting device most commonly used in power transmission and it connects two shafts and also capable of dismantling without breaking any internal connection. But during the working of power transmission it does not separate. Moreover, for every coupling there is a force limit and if someone exceeds that limit it eventually detach. Main reason of coupling is in rotating machinery we face problem of connection of two moving parts with a space between them so we need a strong and reliable media in which the process can go smoothly and its installation is simple and its maintenance saves a lot of time. Additionally, it comes in almost all possible and workable sizes and decision about its purchase should be done under professional supervision.
