Premium 'AL' series greaves gearboxes are manufactured with high quality material and modern design in order to guarantee the maximum reliability and life. Housing, flanges and feet are made out of aluminium alloy upto size 090 and for sizes 110 and above cast iron is used.

Worm shafts are made of steel and are case hardened to 58-60 HRC and profile ground. The thread grinding in the gear ratios that the module value permits is carried out with ZI-Profile. This improves the contact between the toothed surfaces and therefore performance and reduces operating noise.

The worm wheel has a G20 cast irn hub onto which a casting in AB1 Bronze RIM is fitted. To guarantee long life, ball bearings of reputed make used.

Gearboxes are supplied filled with synthetic oil grade ISO VG 320 which is virtually maintenance free and does not require oil change

Elecon single reduction heavy-duty gear units are the result of many years of experiance. Completely Re-designed gear case with liberal ribbing increases heat dissipating area, streamlined sump carrying more oil and larger capacity of fan enhance the thermal rating of the gearbox.

Wherever applicable, British as well as Indian standards are used. Worm conforms to case -hardening alloy steel, worm wheel conforms to phosphor-bronze PB-2C as per BS 1400, while gear case conforms to C.I. grade 25, IS 210.

Gear case is of streamlined design, rugged in construction, made of close-grain cast iron.

The worm is made of case-hardening alloy steel, carburised, ground and polished and is integral with the staff.

Greaves Double Reduction Speed Reducers are two stage worm reduction units. A specially designed primary worm reduction unit is integrally mounted on a standard single reduction Greaves worm reducer which forms the second stage. The composite units provide the most compact and rigid arrangement for large reduction of speed necessary for slow moving machinery. A wide range of ratios upto 4900:1 is available.

The wormshafts are made of high quality case hardening steeL accurately generated, ground and superfinished. The wormwheels comprise of phosphor bronze centrifugally cast rims of substantial sections welded to rigid centres. Considerable flexibility of shaft layout is permissible with all types of Double Reduction units. The dimension drawing for each series shows the different shaft handing arrangements and the appropriate reference should always be quoted when ordering.
