It comprises of :
(i) Loading frame capacity 20 kg/ cm2 with loading yoke and lever arm (ratio 1:10) complete with counter balancing arrangement.
(ii) Fixed ring consolidation cell 60 mm dia x 20 mm thick complete with two porous stones, pressure pad and cutting ring.
(iii) Water reservoir with tubing and connectors
(iv) Dial Gauge 0.02 mm x 12 mm.
(v) Set of weights to give a stress intensity of 10 kg/ cm2 on a 60 mm dia specimen consisting of 7 x 0.05 kg/ cm2, 6 x 0.2 kg/ cm2

It is designed to determine the swelling pressure developed by soil specimens moulded to desired densities at known moisture contents, when soaked in water.

The load applied to restrain the swelling is transferred to a load measuring proving ring through a perforated swell plate and a load transtor bar. The proving ring is attached to the lead screw of load frame, hand operated designed for the purpose. The load frame has a worm and gear arrangement for initial setting and for subsequent volume change compensation. A soaking tank is provided for saturating the specimen and base of the mould has channeis and radial grooves with connecting holes.

For the measurement of the resistance to plastic flow of cylindrical specimens of bituminous pouring mixture loaded on the lateral surface. This is for use with hot mixture containing asphalt or tar and aggregate upto 25 mm maximum size. The equipments comprises the following:
