KYNAR Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF), the homopolymer of 1, 1-difluoroethylene, is a tough engineering thermoplastic that offers a unique balance of performance properties. The unique structure of alternating units of methylene and difluoromethylene, create a polymer with high crystallinity combined with a high polarity, resulting in a sharp melting point. It has the characteristic stability of fluoropolymers while retaining the properties of a conventional thermoplastic material. KYNAR FLEX resins are a series of PVDF based copolymers, similar to KYNAR homopolymer resins in purity and chemical resistance, but having additional chemical compatibility in high pH solutions, increased impact strength at ambient and low temperatures, and increased clarity.

THE NEEDOrganic sulphates and inorganic sulphides are present in the slimes of sewerage flows and form the total sulphides present in the sewerage. A fraction of dissolved hydrogen sulphide is released into the sewer atmosphere as a gas.A process of bacterial reduction occurs when the hydrogen sulphide in combination with the other gases, such as carbon dioxide, is progressively oxidised, reducing the Ph to the point where it splits off with water molecules to form sulphuricacid. The powerful inorganic sulphuric acid reacts with hydrated calcium silicates and lime in the cement structure and reduces it to a soft swelling paste.Conditions are optimal for this process of sulphide attack when there is high Biological Oxygen Demand, presence of sulphates (common in all water systems), higher ambeant temperatures (quickening the kinetics of breakdown and reduction), and long detention times (flat grades - low velocities).

THE SOLULTIONT- Lining is the installation of a flexible sheet liner with locking extensions in reinforced concrete pipe and auxiliary structures to effectively protect the exposed concrete surfaces from corrosion for long periods of time that can be measured in decades.T-Linings projecting, moulded-in T-ribs are designed to allow concrete to flow around them during casting, permanently locking the liner into place as an integral part of the concrete substrate.Because of SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets '' unique combination of qualities viz., outstanding chemical, abrasion and general resistance to any other physical effects, it is recommended for a wide range of uses when protection against corrosion is necessary.There is no other better way to shield concrete other than T-Lining, which makes T-Lining a necessary precaution which should be incorporated during the project design stage.

Imperviousness:During the manufacture of T-Lining material the resin mixture is actually flowed, and all portions of the composition are flowed within the die toeliminate any imperfections. To further assure that SanGrip T Rib Liner sheets are uniform and free from blemishes.

Back Pressure:SanGrip T-Rib Liner sheets have been cast into concrete and then tested with water pressure up to 40psi on the back of liner plate without any evidence of rupture. 40psi back pressure would represent a ground head of approximately 85 feet.

Elongation:SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets has a minimum elongation of approximately 200% for PVC and 600% for PE (ASTM Test D-412), and since it is locked physically into the structure of 21/2" centres, structural cracks which might occur are easily bridged.

Repair:SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets can be easily patched by removing the damaged area and welding another piece of TLining in its place. The repaired section is as fully resistant as the original sheet. Plain sheets are supplied for repair, where needed.

Temperature Resistance:SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets is entirely suitable for all temperatures encountered in sewage. It will also withstand continuous immersion in certain chemical solutions at temperatures as high as 100 C.

Maintenance:The dense, glossy surface of the T-Lining will not absorb or regain precipitated or crystalline materials. Fungus growth and bacterial slimes do not adhere tightly. It is easily decontaminated and maintained in a sanitary condition.

Friction:SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets has an appreciably lower friction coefficient than concrete.

Chemical Properties Acid Resistance:Unaffected by continuous exposure to dilute solutions (at ambient temperature) of most mineral & organic acids including nitric, chromic, phosphoric & sulphuric.

Alkali Resistance:Resists solutions of alkaline chemicals such as calcium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, trisodium phosphate and sodium hydroxide when they occur as chemical waste products being transported at normal ground temperatures.

Solvent Resistance:Resists dilute solutions of alcohols as they normally occur in sewage wastes. However, SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets are not resistant to chlorinatedhydrocarbons, esters, ketones, and similar solvents.

Petroleum Resistance:Withstands resistance to petroleum products normally occurring in municipal waste disposal systems. However, SanGrip T-Liner is not designed forcontinuous exposure to high concentrations of petroleum products.

Salt Resistance:Resistant to all highly corrosive salts such as sodium chloride, copper sulphate, calcium chloride, ferric chloride and alum.

Vegetable and Animal Oil Resistance:Resists repeated exposure to liquid vegetable and animal oils occurring as components of municipal or industrial wastes.

Polyethylene (PE)

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer consisting of long chains produced by combining the ingredient monomer ethylene. The ethylene actually converts to ethane as it takes its place in a polymer and straight sections of the polymer are the same structure as the simple chain hydrocarbons, e.g., propane, decane and other straight single-bonded carbon chains. As with any polymer, the structure of the resulting substance defies molecular description due to cross branching of the chains.

HDPE (High Density polyethylene) is defined by a density of greater or equal to 0.941 g/cm3. HDPE has a low degree of branching and stronger intermolecular forces and tensile strength.

THE NEEDOrganic sulphates and inorganic sulphides are present in the slimes of sewerage flows and form the total sulphides present in the sewerage. A fraction of dissolved hydrogen sulphide is released into the sewer atmosphere as a gas.A process of bacterial reduction occurs when the hydrogen sulphide in combination with the other gases, such as carbon dioxide, is progressively oxidised, reducing the Ph to the point where it splits off with water molecules to form sulphuricacid. The powerful inorganic sulphuric acid reacts with hydrated calcium silicates and lime in the cement structure and reduces it to a soft swelling paste.Conditions are optimal for this process of sulphide attack when there is high Biological Oxygen Demand, presence of sulphates (common in all water systems), higher ambeant temperatures (quickening the kinetics of breakdown and reduction), and long detention times (flat grades - low velocities).

THE SOLULTIONT- Lining is the installation of a flexible sheet liner with locking extensions in reinforced concrete pipe and auxiliary structures to effectively protect the exposed concrete surfaces from corrosion for long periods of time that can be measured in decades.T-Linings projecting, moulded-in T-ribs are designed to allow concrete to flow around them during casting, permanently locking the liner into place as an integral part of the concrete substrate.Because of SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets '' unique combination of qualities viz., outstanding chemical, abrasion and general resistance to any other physical effects, it is recommended for a wide range of uses when protection against corrosion is necessary.There is no other better way to shield concrete other than T-Lining, which makes T-Lining a necessary precaution which should be incorporated during the project design stage.

Typical Properties

Thermoplastic:SanGrip T-RIB remains flexible within a wide temperature and between 75 degrees C and 40 degrees C. T-RIB also remains stable throughouta wide band of temperature range, making its user friendly and easy towork with.

As a Tank Lining- ideal for a wide range of chemicals and can withstand continuous immersion up to 71 degrees C, but upper temperature limits depending on is type and concentration of chemical.

Dielectric Strength SanGrip T-RIB is a non-conductor of electricity and resists electrolysis. The dielectric strength of the basic resins [using ASTM D149 test method, short time test] is 400-850 volts per Mil (25 Microns) of thickness.

Water Absorption Rate (% change maximum in original weight) to ASTM D 570. Results are 0.1% over first 24 hours then the rate drops rapidly. Total absorbed amount is not increased over prolonged period.

Water Vapour Transmission Rate Using ASTM E96 test method, [38degrees C and 100% relative humidity] the transmission rate is about 0.020 (per 100 square inches per day) for 1.5mm thickness sheet.

Co-efficient of Linear / Thermal expansion:ASTM D696 Test method gives a rate of 1.2 x 10-4 per degree C rise in temperature. SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets do not exhibit significant contraction / expansion differentials to concrete. Hardness Shore Durometer 'D' is 55 at 25 degrees C. (ASTM D 2240 test method).

Imperviousness:During the manufacture of T-Lining material the resin mixture is actually flowed, and all portions of the composition are flowed within the die toeliminate any imperfections. To further assure that SanGrip T Rib Liner sheets are uniform and free from blemishes.

Back Pressure:SanGrip T-Rib Liner sheets have been cast into concrete and then tested with water pressure up to 40psi on the back of liner plate without any evidence of rupture. 40psi back pressure would represent a ground head of approximately 85 feet.

Elongation:SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets has a minimum elongation of approximately 200% for PVC and 600% for PE (ASTM Test D-412), and since it is locked physically into the structure of 21/2" centres, structural cracks which might occur are easily bridged.

Repair:SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets can be easily patched by removing the damaged area and welding another piece of TLining in its place. The repaired section is as fully resistant as the original sheet. Plain sheets are supplied for repair, where needed.

Temperature Resistance:SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets is entirely suitable for all temperatures encountered in sewage. It will also withstand continuous immersion in certain chemical solutions at temperatures as high as 100 C.

Maintenance:The dense, glossy surface of the T-Lining will not absorb or regain precipitated or crystalline materials. Fungus growth and bacterial slimes do not adhere tightly. It is easily decontaminated and maintained in a sanitary condition.

Friction:SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets has an appreciably lower friction coefficient than concrete.

Chemical Properties Acid Resistance:Unaffected by continuous exposure to dilute solutions (at ambient temperature) of most mineral & organic acids including nitric, chromic, phosphoric & sulphuric.

Alkali Resistance:Resists solutions of alkaline chemicals such as calcium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, trisodium phosphate and sodium hydroxide when they occur as chemical waste products being transported at normal ground temperatures.

Solvent Resistance:Resists dilute solutions of alcohols as they normally occur in sewage wastes. However, SanGrip T Rib Liner Sheets are not resistant to chlorinatedhydrocarbons, esters, ketones, and similar solvents.

Petroleum Resistance:Withstands resistance to petroleum products normally occurring in municipal waste disposal systems. However, SanGrip T-Liner is not designed forcontinuous exposure to high concentrations of petroleum products.

NovaStrong is made from UHMW-PE, a subset of the thermoplastic -polyethylene. It has extremely long chains, with molecular weight numbering in the millions, usually between 2 and 6 million, strengthening intermolecular interactions resulting in highest impact strength of any thermoplastic, very low coefficient of friction, self-lubricating, and is highly resistant to abrasion (15 times more resistant to abrasion than carbon steel). Its coefficient of friction is significantly lower than that of Polyamide and Acetal, and is comparable to that of PTFE, but UHMWPE has better abrasion resistance than PTFE.

NovaKyn PVDF Sheets

NovaKyn PVDF Sheets made from a pure thermoplastic fluoropolymer. PVDF maintains its useful mechanical and chemical resistance properties at temperatures up to 150C (300F). An additional advantage is that PVDF can be welded into tanks for acid and corrosive chemical processing in elevated temperature environments. PVDF is rigid and resistant to creep under mechanical stress and load. PVDF is stable to sunlight, and other sources of ultraviolet radiation.
