Ponni rice is a variety of rice developed by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in 1986. The rice is mostly cultivated along the banks of the Kaveri in the cities of Ariyalur, Trichy, Madurai and its mouth. The variety is rich in calories with up to 5 kcal per particle of rice.
Black rice (also known as purple rice) is a range of rice types of the species Oryza sativa L., some of which are glutinous rice. The grain has a similar amount of fiber to brown rice and, like brown rice, has a mild, nutty taste. Black rice has a deep black color and usually turns deep purple when cooked.
Premium Basmati Rice. Basmati is a long grain, fragrant rice that cooks fluffier than white rice with a stronger flavor than the jasmine variety. We source aromatic white basmati grown in India with a sweet, nutty flavor for our Indian Basmati Rice.
Broken rice is fragments of rice grains, broken in the field, during drying, during transport, or by milling. Mechanical separators are used to separate the broken grains from the whole grains and sort them by size. Broken rice is fragmented, not defective; there is nothing wrong with it. It is as nutritious as the equivalent unbroken rice (i.e. if all the germ and bran remains, it is as nutritious as brown rice; if none remains, it is only as nutritious as white rice).
