lmenite, also known as Manaccanite, is a titanium-iron oxide mineral with the idealized formula FeTiO.Ilmenite is blended and processed to create titanium dioxide, a high quality white pigment which is ultraviolet (UV), water and chemically resistant while also being non-toxic.

More than half of all titanium dioxide pigment is used in the production of paints (household, industrial and automotive etc.) as it reflects the sun’s harmful UV rays and protects paint from peeling. Titanium dioxide is also an important ingredient in the manufacturing of sunscreen, cosmetics, plastics, ink, paper, toothpaste and some foods such as flour and icing sugar to improve their brightness.

Sillimanite as a natural and untreated mineral is a very important raw material for high alumina refractories. Sillimanite is obtained from high temperature, aluminum-rich vicinity. The industrial uses of sillimanite mineral specially related to their unique chemical and physical properties. High alumina content and lower fe2o3 and LOI contributes to its main chemical properties. Withstanding the high temperatures and pressure the material is highly suitable for refractory and foundry application. Sillimanite is extensively used in Iron and steel, Petrochemical, Electrical, Cement, Zinc and Glass industries, Refractory industry, foundry, Precision investment casting, electrical porcelains, sanitary ware and abrasives.

The sillimanite mineral in raw or calcined form is specially used in manufacturing of refractory bricks, shapes, castings, monolithics, ramming and gunning mixtures.

Zircon's exceptional qualities of hardness and durability make it a must-use for the manufacture of ceramics and refractory tiles and also for a range of other high-tech applications such as armour plating on military aircraft, heat shield in space shuttles and potentially as solid oxide fuel cells in hydrogen powered vehicles and in many industrial and chemical applications.More than 50% of all zircon is used in the ceramics industry due to zircon’s ability to impart opacity, (whiteness and brightness) and to create glazes on products such as tiles, sanitary-ware (baths, sinks and toilets) and crockery. Zircon is a hard and tough material as it maintains its physical and chemical composition when subjected to high temperatures and corrosive environments. 

Zircon is used to block X-ray emissions in cathode ray tubes (CRT) found in computers and television monitors,  to produce biomedical devices such as hip and knee replacements, rechargeable light weight batteries, television screens, fuses and toothpaste and also as a foundry sand for specialist investment casting or high-precision casting.
