Definition : In paper testing, folding endurance is defined as the logarithm (to the base of ten) of the number of double folds that are required to make a test piece break under standardized conditions: F = log10 d, where F is the folding endurance and d the number of double folds. Folding endurance is especially applicable for papers used for maps, bank notes, archival documents, etc.

Device Description : the device measures the number of folds until the sample breaks . The tests require that two samples be tested simultaneously. This is a standard device designed for security papers. It has automatic stop function after sample break. Standard version for paper up to 0.25 mm thickness , alternatively available for board . Measurement and display of the folding head temperature optionally available.
Test Description : two samples are clamped in the folding heads for a simultaneous test . the spring supported samples support are pulled apart, so that samples are clamped at specified force , after pushing the start button the folding knives begin to guide the sample around the sapphire supported folding rolls , that way samples are folded at both sides at a radius of about 0.25mm. if one sample breaks the folding of second sample continues , until it breaks so . the movement of the folding heads stop after test termination , so that samples can be removed the device records and displays number of folds until sample breaks.
Device Description : Roughness of paper or similar material is defined as the volume of air that forced by a specified pressure difference escapes in unit time by passing between the surface of the specimen and flat metal ring resting on a specimen and exerting a definite pressure on it. A sample is placed on a perfect plane glass plate, measuring head on the test piece a controlled and small air pressure pass through a flat metal ring and the specimen. The pressure difference read off on selected rotameter tube.

Definition : Bending resistance, the resistance offered to a bending force by a rectangular specimen, which is clamped along one side, measured under specified conditions. The bending resistance is considered to be measured towards the side (felt or wire) that is concave during bending. Bending resistance is commonly referred to as “stiffness” .

Device Description : The electronic stiffness Tester is easy to handle and calibrate. It is fast and efficient & paper board and intended for determining the bending resistance of a wide range of paper grades. The instrument can also be used for determination of the behavior of paper under long term stress, as well as to determine the bending stiffness. Test Description: one end of the test piece is easily fastened into the clamp. The maximum force required to bend the test piece to a specified angle is presented directly on the digital display . caliberation is easy and can be performed with the help of weight platform.
Device Description : The short span compression tester is used for paper or board strips with 15mm width. The jaws clamps the strips with definite force and then the jaws move from 0.7mm towards the center until a break is detected . on the LCD the values are displayed
Test Description: the sample is put into the open clamps by pressing the start button , the clamps close and move together with a speed of 3+- 0.1mm/minute , the curve is displayed and as soon as the break is detected the value is shown on the LCD . After several tests the statistics values and the ratio between MD and CD are displayed. Optionally a sample feeder can be delivered, which moves the sample strip for next test sequence. The sample feeder moves the sample approx 3cm and allows several tests on one strip.
Device Description : Internal bond strength is the maximum load that single or multiply of paper or box board can with stand when loaded with a force applied directly at right angle to surface of the sample . Made of Heavy cast iron base with built-in leveling device pressure sensitive tape dispenser integral with base. A Stationary Anvil and separable platen which the pendulum strike at the same point for each test. A pendulum of dual capacity and free to swing on a housed and dust proof ball bearing. The range changing weights are available to select the pendulum capacity. A mechanism for holding the pendulum in raised position with a provision instantaneous release. A plexiglass peak pointer to register the maximum arc, enough which the pendulum swings when release. The scale is calibrated in thousands of a foot pound in both ranges, with a reference point for calibrating the pointer in free swing to compensate for friction during swing. The five number specimen preparation unit, which will allow for variations of specimen thicknesses, with different clamping pressures on the specimen from 50 to 200 PSI in 50 PSI increments with provided spacer rings.
Test Description: the operator clamps a prepared sample in the holder . the pendulum is released and impacts on the aluminum angle , which tears the sample internally . the angle falls on the rubber mat . the operator removes the support plate . four more tests are performed the same way . the values are measured . after finishing the tests the operator removes reminders of adhesives tapes from the angles and support plates , and cleans them ready for further sample preparations . That way , instruments and its accessories are ready for further tests.
Definition : Folding endurance tests have been used to estimate the ability of paper to withstand repeated bending, folding, and creasing. Folding endurance has also been useful for measuring the deterioration of paper upon aging.

Device Description : Folding clamp, quick grip type of stainless steel for a strip width of 15mm which is vibration free due to absence of conventional geared drive. On this tester , Two testers can be tested simultaneously . the number of folds is registered by two counters , which are stopped automatically when the specimen breaks. The fix jaws having loading clamps with weight bars and weight steps of 50grams gives loads between 1.96 N and 9.32N respectively.
Test Description : folding endurance tester determines folding endurance of all kinds of paper , cardboard , foil and films upto 0.15mm. the folding effect on the specimen , loaded by weights , is exerted by the oscillating and rotating movement of the upper clamps

SPECIFICATIONS :
This is the more traditional and popular instrument for measuring the porosity and air permeability in materials with intermediate values. May also be tested materials of lower air permeability, using smaller diameter hole measuring plates. The air pressure is produced by an inner cylinder of specific diameter and standardized weight, floating freely in an outer cylinder partly filled with oil serving as air sealing.
The sample of the test material is held by clamping plates having a circular orifice of 1.0 square inch (standard) or 0.1 or 0.25 square inches (optional). Porosimeter readings can be evaluated directly or indirectly depending on the material and the objectives of the test. Directly when the capacity of resistance to airflow through a material is tested. Indirectly, when it is wanted to measure other physical properties that affect the passage of air through a porous sheet.

SUPPLY :
The standard model includes a 20 ounces cylinder and a lower clamping plate of 1.0 square inch of air hole and an upper adapter.
The 20 ounces cylinder is graduated in 25 cc for the initial two spaces and 50 cc for each of the other spaces, up to a total of 300 cc.
Definition : Brightness is a commonly used industry term for the numerical value of the reflectance factor
of a sample with respect to blue light of specific spectral and geometric characteristics. This method requires an
instrument employing 45° illumination and 0° viewing geometry with the illuminating and viewing beams adjusted so that translucent materials are evaluated on an arbitrary but specific scale . the directional reflectance is measured at 457 nm.

SMOOTHNESS TEST
Lateral flow between centrally punched several sheets using one blank adapter plate and Uniform clamping pressure is provided by a lever arm, to which weight can be attached.
POROSITY TEST
Rate of flow through one square inch.using 4 holes adapter plate and upper rubber lined gasket plate
SOFTNESS TEST
Rate of flow over the surface height maintain by steel plug which has been constructed by a given weight.

The timer starts automatically when the zero slit of the graduated ruler pass an optional read fork and stops automatically as soon as the predetermined volume of air has been passed through the sample.
Definition : This method measures the force perpendicular to the plane of the paper required to tear multiple plies
through a specified distance after the tear has been started using an Elmendorf-type tearing tester. The measured results can be used to calculate the approximate tearing resistance of a single sheet.
More than one sheet of the sample material are torn together through a fixed distance by means of the pendulum
of an Elmendorf-type tearing tester. The work done in tearing is measured by the loss in potential energy of the
pendulum. The average force exerted when a certain number of plies are torn together (work done divided by the total distance torn).
