In falling film evaporators, the liquid product usually enters the evaporator at the head of the evaporator. In the head, the product is evenly distributed into the heating tubes. The liquid enters the heating tube and forms a thin film on the tube wall where it flows downwards at boiling temperature and is partially evaporated. In most cases, steam is used for heating the evaporator. The product and the vapor both flow downwards in a parallel flow. This gravity-induced downward movement is increasingly augmented by the co-current vapor flow. The separation of the concentrated product from its vapor takes place in the lower part of the heat exchanger and the vapor/liquid separator.

Your product flows as a continuous film along the tube length, driven by gravity.

Custom manufacturer of forced circulation evaporators. Features include high flow velocity tubes, high-capacity pumps & heat exchangers. Forced circulation evaporator have high recirculation flow rate. Forced circulation evaporators are used if boiling of the product on the heating surfaces is to be avoided due to the fouling characteristics of the product. Forced circulation evaporators are also used in crystallizing applications because no evaporation & therefore no concentration increase, takes place on the heat transfer surface.

In this evaporator, the liquid feed enters from the bottom of steam heated tubes. Effective water evaporation from liquid feed is imparted from the parallel movement of liquid and vapour along tube surfaces.
