Blaine Air Apparatus without liquid The apparatus is used for determining the fineness of cement in terms of specific surface expressed as total surface area in square centimeters per gram of cement. This is a variable flow type air permeameter.
Specifications : The apparatus consists one each of permeability cell 12.5mm I.D., Manometer 'U' type mounted on stand with a built in stop cock, Perforated disc, Plunger Rubber stopper, Rubber tube 30cm long.

Vicat needle apparatus with dashpot; is used for determining the normal consistency and setting times of cement and 'A' Class limes.
The time it takes for a cement to stiffen to a standard value after addition of water is commonly known as the set time. The test involves mixing cement with water and then measuring its resistance to penetration of a standard probe at varying intervals of time, until a certain value is reached.
Consist of a metallic frame having base plate of 5 x 5; bearing a movable rod with cap at one end. The needles and plunger can be fixed centrally in to the rod by clamping screw. The movable rod carries an indicator which moves over a graduated scale attached to the frame. The scale is 40mm in length with the smallest division of 1mm. The dashpot facilitates the gentle lowering of the movable rod with needle.

The Jring test can be used to determine the passing ability of selfconsolidating concrete. Passing ability refers to the ability of SCC, under its own weight (without vibration), to flow into and completely fill the spaces within an intricate framework, containing obstacles such as reinforcement bars
The equipment consists of rectangular section of 38 mm X 25 mm open steel ring drilled vertically with holes to accept threaded section of reinforcing bars. The bars and sections can be placed at different distance apart to simulate the congestion of reinforcement of the ring formed by vertical section.
