Flexible plywood generally known as flexi ply, is a special kind of plywood that can be easily bent without breaking it into pieces. It’s very useful for creating any kind of furniture that needs to have curved surfaces. Useful for making curved surfaces in furniture and for interior decoration (e.g. for enclosing a circular building column with plywood) & Can be easily bent by hand. It is usually made from Gurjan, Hardwood, Rubberwood and Pine Core. Lower in weight compared to the regular types of plywood. Hence easier to transport and install.

The core of the block board is made from solid blocks of wood.These blocks are rectangular elongated blocks/strips obtained from a softwood tree. All these small blocks are of almost the same size and are arranged end to end to form the entire block board core. Then, a top and bottom veneer (layer of wooden ply) is bonded/glued over these blocks to form the faces/surfaces.

Commercial Block board: ( IS-1659) It is Interior grade Block board meant for indoor use made using UF resins. Used in home and office furniture. It is Moisture resistant (MR grade) but it is not waterproof.

Waterproof Block board: (IS-1659 BWP) It is Interior grade Block board meant for indoors applications where conditions are more humid & wet made using phenolic resins.

Applications: It is the most preferred choice when long pieces of wood are required for furniture-making as it is stiffer and does not bends or sags like plywood. Example:

• Lengthy wall panels
• Cupboards and Kitchen Shutters

It is made from several thin layers of wooden veneers stacked over one another. These veneers, called plies, are firmly glued to each other so that they don’t come apart easily. The number of plies in every plywood sheet is usually an odd number, such as 3-ply, 5-ply, 7-ply, etc. While stacking the veneers over one another, it is ensured that the grain direction of the plies in adjacent layers is perpendicular to each other. Because of this, the plywood board becomes strong in both directions.

The two most well-known types are:

Commercial plywood: (IS-303) It is Interior grade plywood meant for indoor use made using UF resins. Used in home and office furniture. It is Moisture resistant (MR grade) but it is not waterproof.

Marine plywood: (IS-710) it is exterior grade plywood meant for outdoor use made using phenolic resins for marine applications such as boats and ships, also Used in kitchen and outdoor area.

Product Application: It is a high gloss acrylic sheet that is perfectly ideal for kitchen shutters, bathroom cabinets, wardrobe & other interior applications. It is easy to clean and maintain by just using a soapy cotton cloth. Do not use any acids, alkaline or abrasive brushes for cleaning the surface. Try to avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

Decorative laminates are sheets of a hard-decorative material of about 1mm & 0.8mm thickness that is usually glued to wooden surfaces such as on furniture. These laminates are available in a wide variety of color shades, patterns, and textures, and are a blend of paper and plastic. The laminate manufacturing process involves soaking the papers in phenolic and melamine resins and then the papers are hard-pressed and bonded together under high pressure and temperature.

Particle-board is also known as low-density fiberboard (LDF), is an engineered wood product manufactured from wood chips, sawmill shavings, or e sawdust, and a synthetic resin or other suitable binders, which is pressed and extruded.

Its standard size is 8’x4’ and thickness 12 MM & 18mm. Its price depends upon weight like 30kg, 34 kg, 50 kg, etc.

Application: Used for concrete framwork, in building industry and construction of bridges, flyovers, etc.
