splined expansion joint is designed to be used in single and dual string completions to accommodate changes in tubing length caused by variations in temperature. They are capable of maintaining the pressure integrity of the tubing while allowing the string to safely expand and contract, and can be run above rotational release or straight pickup release packers. It may be shear pinned at one-foot intervals along its entries strokelength, allowing the operator to select the proper expansion and/or contraction stroke that will be required after the splined expansion joint has been installed. The splines allow for torque through the joint.
