Fluoroelastomer also commonly known as FKM is a nothing but fluorinated polymer. Due tohigh electronegativity of Fluorine, it is difficult to displace fluorine atoms from the polymeric chains. Therefore FKM elastomer has higher chemical resistance and temperature resistance.   Fluorine forms very strong bond with the polymer chains which makes FKM elastomer very stable and chemically inert to a many inorganic and organic solvents, oils, petroleum products etc. Due to superiority to most of the elastomers, Viton tubing is very widely used in harsh environment consisting of corrosive chemicals and higher temperatures.

• Chemically inert to many solvents specially hydrocarbons
• Can be compounded to have temperature resistance up to  300° C
• Has flame retardant properties
