This medicine is used with other antiviral medicines to treat Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in adults and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). This medicine may lower the amount of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in your body and the ability of HBV to multiply and infect new liver cells. It may improve the condition of your liver. It will not cure HBV. Take this medicine exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to. Take it at the same time every day by mouth, with or without food. The usual dose of this medicine is 1 tablet each day. Do not miss a dose of this medicine. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose of this medicine, do not take the missed dose. Take the next dose of this medicine at your regular time. If you are an adult and have kidney problems, your healthcare provider may tell you to take this medicine less often. If you take too much this medicine, call your local poison control center or go right away to the nearest hospital emergency room.
