Silk worm keeps itself within the cocoon shell and after over of its hibernation period its awakes and emerge after tearing out the shell. From this tom shell, continuous filament can not get reeled so people use to kill the worm inside the shell. But in Ahimsa silk, we do not kill worm and allow the worm to emerge and fly away. We prepare yam from this torn shell. Which is called Ahimsa silk. Ahimsa spun silk yam or fabric is much more comfortable than normal silk.
