OXYGEN CYLINDER -Oxygen cylinders are color coded .They have got white colour on the top and rest of the body is black in colour.( white shoulder black body). Although people are using many other cylinders of different sizes ; the commonly Used and ideal medical cylinders are as follows :
Jumbo size - having capacity of 6900 litres.It is almost 54 inches in height and Around 55 to 60 kg in weight.If used continuously at 2 litres min this cylinder Will last for minimum 24 hours.1320 litres size - having capacity of 1320 litres.It is also called as medium size Cylinder or ward cylinder .It has got height of around 2 and half feet and weigh Around 15 to 17 kg. If used continuously at 2 litres min this cylinder will last for Minimum 6 hours.660 litres size - having capacity of 660 litres .It is also called as boyles machine Oxygen cylinder.(boyles machine is used to give anaesthesia during operation) This cylinder is around 1 and half feet in height and weighs 8 to 9 kg.It has got Different connection ( pin index system) so as to attach directly to the boyles Machine.330 litres size - having capacity of 330 litres.It is around one feet in height and Weight is around 2-3 kg.This cylinder as light weighted is commonly used for Travel purpose and is very portable Apart from 660 litres size cylinder ;all other cylinders can be used for patients Who requires oxygen at home.
