The tuberose flower is widely known for its exotic fragrance. Its aroma provides a magical affect on spirits and intellect. Because of its passionate and sensual aroma the oil extract of tuberose is used as one of the contents in the best perfumes like Ralph Lauren, Poison and Silver Rain etc. It is because of this property tuberose oil is used as a sexual stimulant especially for people suffering from impotency. The oil, however, is not used for any therapeutic purposes.
The strong aroma and the ability of tuberose oil to blend with most of aromatic oils make it widely used oil across the world. Tuberose oil is extensively used as an ingredient of fragrant candles and soaps.
Tuberose oil is extracted from Polianthes tuberosa flower which is cultivated in parts of Morocco, Egypt, India and France extensively, through enfleurage process. The flowers are blended with fats and then essential oil is extracted trough distillation with steam. The tuberose oil contains methyl benzoate, benzyl alcohol, farcenol, eugenol and methyl anthranilate. Tuberose oil is a slightly sticky oil which is of orange color with traces of yellowish tinge. It has a smell that is highly intoxicating and overpowering.
