Traction Transformers

Traction transformers are always design and manufactured according to a specific railway system and based on detailed parameters.

In the traction system you may have a combination of Stationary transformers (supply- or feeding transformers) and Auto transformers and Booster transformers. There are mainly three different systems in use:

• Single phase feeding system with return conductor
• Single phase feeding system with Booster transformer
• Two phase feeding system with Auto transformer

Each of these systems have their advantages that should be taken into account when choosing the traction system.
