Thiocolchicoside

Thiocolchicoside or Muscorilis extracted from seeds of Gloriosa superb, belongs to family- Colchicaceae, from tropical Africa and Asia. Thiocolchicoside having anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity also act as a muscle relaxant. It acts as GABAA receptor antagonist, provide relief for stiffness in spinal or joint or nerve problems. Thiocolchicoside is used in the treatment for arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and for nonaticular rheutism. It may prohibit the action of cyclo- oxygenase in body and lower pain and swelling. Thiocolchicoside having powerful convulsant activity and not recommended for seizure- prone individuals.
