Coal requirements per day of a thermal power plant are very large. A 1000MW power plant handles about 18666 tons of coal per day. Thus requires proper management and handling of coal. Typically for a 1000 MW plant based on indigenous coal, theamount of ash generated is around 300 to 400 TPH depending on gross calorific value andash content of worst coal.
