Manufacture of composites involves a concoction of raw materials - resins, catalyst, accelerators, mold releases and glass fiber. The resin:catalyst:accelerator ratio always poses a technical challenge, since they are sourced from disparate manufacturers. Often when the resin fails to gel, or reach its peak strength, it is complex to pin-point the problem raw material. Is it the resin, or the catalyst, or the accelerator, or all? What about the time and money to debug to the problem and to compensate for the loss in product?
