Chemical Constituent

Terminalia's active constituents include tannins, cardenolide, triterpenoid saponins (arjunic acid, arjunolic acid, arjungenin, arjun glycosides), flavonoids (arjunone, arjunolone,luteolin), gallic acid, ellagic acid, oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), phytosterols, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and copper. A glycoside arjunetin has recently been isolated from the bark and enlarged the list of glycosides found in this tree. Arjuna also contains coenzyme Q10.
