A naturally occurring powder known as tamarind powder is produced from tamarind pulp. Magnesium is widely present in tamarind. Additionally, it has a higher calcium content than many plant-based foods.

A naturally occurring powder known as tamarind powder is produced from tamarind pulp. Magnesium is widely present in tamarind. Additionally, it has a higher calcium content than many plant-based foods.

    The tamarind fruit contains tartaric, malic, and citric acids, which are what give it its sour flavor. Thiamine and folate are two of the B vitamins that tamarind is particularly high in. Tamarind has a long history of medicinal uses, just like most ancient foods do. Tamarind powder is thought to be beneficial for diabetic patients as it may also help to regulate insulin levels and blood sugar.

    • Tamarind powder is a crucial condiment/adjunct that is regularly used as a souring ingredient in the making of sambar, rasam, puliogere, chutney, sauces, etc.
    • Tamarind powder is a distinctive, sour spice that is frequently used in Indian or other Asian savoury cuisine to balance rich, spicy flavour profiles.
    • It can be used to make barbecue sauce, pizza sauce, marinades, pickles, and legume dishes. Additionally, it is frequently used in a variety of sauces, drinks, candies, and snacks.
    • Tamarind is a popular component in candies, beverages, syrup, and sauces like barbecue sauce—all of which frequently include added sugar.
    • Tamarind powder serves as a helpful analogy for the fruit and can be applied in practically any situation.
    • It can be used to create customary chutneys, salts, and rubs, as well as traditional sauces and chutneys.
    • Both a condiment and a souring agent are used with it.

    Handling/Storage:

    • – Store in cool, dry, clean environment, free from foreign odor and out of direct heat/sun light not below 10° C (recommended 20-25° C, to maintain the product in free flow condition).
    • – It is not advised to expose the product to air at prolonged periods as this may result in hardening of Tamarind Powder as the product is highly hydroscopic.
    • – Reseal the package tightly when the product is not completely used up.
