Surgispon Absorbable Hemostatic Gelatin Sponge

SURGISPON is Sterile Sponge is a  medical device intended for application to bleeding surfaces as a hemostatic. It is a water-insoluble, off-white, nonelastic, porous, pliable product prepared from purified Gelatin USP Granules and Water for Injection, USP. It may be cut without fraying and is able to  absorb  and hold within its interstices, many times its weight of blood and other fluids.   The porous surface of the gelatin induces the rapid rupture of the blood plaques with the consequent activation of the enzymatic cascade, which leads to natural coagulation. 

CLASSIFICATION ACCORDING TO EUROPEAN DIRECTIVE 93/42/CEE: "Medical Device" Class III implatable.
