Cows have played a very crucial role in our mythology, Lord Krishna himself belong to the Community so called Gopalak( Shepherd). Importance of cow in Human’s life is as important as a medicine in a patient’s life. Mythology says that serving cow will shower blessings of Goddess Lakshmi as well as other 33 crores deities. Cow is the life line of this country and cows are the pride of this country too. When we pick up any scripture at random, whether it is Ramayana, Mahabharata. Geeta, Purana, Smruti, Jain scriptures, Buddhist scriptures, they all have promoted cow as special species. In ancient times, people used to have a large herd of Indian cows to have sufficient milk for households use. In turn, these cows as their replacement also provide dung and urine which is used in farms as manure and thus cycle is maintained eco-friendly without the use of any other chemicals and pesticides.
India is very rich reservoir of genetic diversity and possesses some of the well known breeds of cattle. There are 45 well defined breeds of cattle in India apart of several other unidentified populations. Recognized breeds represent less than 20% of the total cattle population. These breeds are the result of thousands of years of selection, evaluation and development in the process of domestication suitable to local agro climatic conditions milch breed like Red Sindhi, Gir and Rathi are high milk producers.
Indian cattle are considered more hardy and show greater resistance to various infectious and non-infectious diseases. With their long legs and hard hooves these cattle are generally more suited than European cattle. In the modern world of technology, after studying living mechanism, scientists have found that feed grown with the help of pesticides, cattle have an adverse effect of it on their physical health and many a times they have become victim of different diseases, which thereby gets transferred to humans when such diseased animal products are consumed.
To make India a healthy and disease free country, we make sure to produce highly nutritious cow milk, ghee and other products together with taking into consideration the organic farming with the help of manure prepared from dung and urine of indigenous Gir cows.
