Stone Pillars

Natural stones have their own charm and that is why they have an important role in decorating the houses, offices and other spaces. These stone are hard, durable and easy to clean. These qualities make them the first choice of all. Out of many artifacts carved out of stone one most common are stone pillars. These pillars are used heavily and are found in almost all houses. Where on the one hand, these add a regality to the house, these are sturdy and can easily bear the weight of the roof. Traditionally these were more so used as part of the building construction but these days, stone pillars are specially the carved ones are used as part of interior designing inside the house or in the porch or open roofed spaces.

To add to their charm these stone pillars are carved and made more beautiful. Many historical monuments like Taj Mahal have carved stone pillars and certainly add to its beauty. Natural stones like sandstone, marble and granite are used to make pillars. These stones have their own luster and shine that make carvings look more attractive. Granite emits light and looks bright and is used very frequently. It is since time immemorial that stone pillars are being used. Ashoka’s pillars on which inscriptions are written were also made of sandstone.
