Rebaudioside A is one of the many steviol glycosides It is responsible for the sweetness of stevia plants. In US, rebaudioside A is Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) for use as a sweetener in foods and beverages. It is approximately 250 to 300 times sweeter than sucrose. Stevioside is about 200 times as sweet as sucrose, Rebaudioside A is about 300 times as sweet as sucrose, with and sweeter than stevioside. Reb B is also present in stevia plants but in minute quantity.
