Belt reinforcement consists of galvanized steel cord and core rubber which possesses superior adhesive property. Belt body comprises the reinforcement covered with top and bottom rubber layers. Steel cord is composed of left and right twisting wire and arranged evenly and longitudinally in the belt.

The basic strength material is steel cords placed at fixed pitch, core compound and cover compounds are added in pre-formatting process under constant tension. The core rubber ensures adequate penetration among the steel cords. This will minimise the corrosion of steel in case of any damage to the belt. Westland manufactures steel cord conveyor belts to various strengths & covers conforming to various National and International standards. Westland manufactures Steel Cord Conveyor Belts upto 2400 mm width.

CONSTRUCTION OF STEEL CORDS:

Twisted wires make strands and strands make cords. The direction of the strand is opposite to the direction of wires as illustrated. Moreover the cords are placed in the belt as "S" & "Z" alternatively.
