Randhir Metal is one of the well-known manufacturers of Alloy 347 Nipple, in which silver brazing compounds are known to cause stress cracking in nickel – based alloys. Rupture and creep properties of SS 347 Hexagon Reducing Nipple shown in this bulletin are typical of material receiving this low – temperature treatment. Slow response of Stainless Steel 347 Hexagon Nipple to age hardening enables parts to be welded and directly age – hardened without an intermediate stress relief. If Stainless Steel 347 One End Threaded Nipple is cold – worked and / or precipitation – hardened, silver brazing compounds should not be used. Also, SS 347 Both End Threaded Nipple containing cadmium are best avoided; while cadmium has not been shown to cause cracking by itself, it can aggravate cracking from other sources. Room – temperature properties of welds in Stainless Steel 347 Concentric Swaged Nipple receiving the low temperature anneal and / or age can be compared with results of the high – temperature anneals and / or age. Additional properties of welds in Stainless Steel 347 Eccentric Swaged Nipple is annealed at 1950 Degree and aged at 1400 Degree F to 1200 Degree F, hold at 1200 Degree F for a total aging time of 20 hours. Welding was by the manual gas tungsten-arc process, using 347 Stainless Steel Nipple, where these welds were found satisfactory in bend tests and radiographic examination.
