While you are programming a Small Outline Package IC (SOP), it is very difficult to connect the small surface mounted pins on the package to the Programmer Kit you are using. You must either design an small PCB to connect the SOP package IC and pins to take out the connecting wires which wont work in the case if your IC is already soldered and then the debugging becomes almost impossible.
