    type a : sodium aluminosilicate is the base meteial, having a pore diameter of 4a and corresponding to the 4a molecular sieve. The replacement of sodium cations by calcium cations provides a pore diameter of 5a, corresponding to the 5a molecular sieve. Similarly, a diameter of 3a corresponds to the 3a molecular sieve and is obtained by replacing sodium with potassium cations type x : sodium aluminosilicate is built up different to type a providing approximately a 10adiameter, corresponding to the 13x molecular sieve.
