Maple Orgtech (India) Ltd. is manufacturing and propagating EM in India under agreement with EMRO, Japan. EM technology was developed by Dr. Teruo Higa in Japan in the early 1980s and since then, it has been spread out to more than 150 countries worldwide.
 
EM stands for â��Effective Microorganismsâ��. It is a consortium of different strains of beneficial and effective microorganisms, both aerobic and anaerobic in nature, which co-exist at pH of 3.50. It is processed by EMRO personnel under strict quality standard in Maple Orgtech state of art plant in Kolkata. These organisms are collected from the natural environment and not imported, exotic or genetically engineered. The main microbes are Lactobacillus, Photosynthetic bacteria and yeast. EM Technology is the most powerful tool to carry out effective Environmental Management and has become the natural choice for carrying out disposable waste management.

EM applications on biodegradable solid waste are
Decentralized Application:

• Kitchen waste (degradable) treatment.
• Community waste treatment to remove foul odour.

Intermittent Application
Treatment at collection point: to avoid foul odour during transportation, lowering transportation cost.
Centralized Application

• Suppression of harmful gases & leachate treatment.
• Decomposing of disposable bio degradable waste : Can be used in agriculture or land filling purpose.
