BATTERY
Batteries are essential component in a SPV system, where energy has to be stored during the day and used in the night.  A typical application being Solar Home Lighting System.  The type of Battery used in Solar Home Lighting System is Low Maintenance Tubular, Lead-Acid Battery.  Being Low Maintenance, it gives long trouble-free Service, requiring attention typically once in 3 to 6 months.
SPV CHARGE CONTROLLER
The functions of the “SPV CHARGE CONTROLLER” is to control charging the battery from the solar modules and also to control the load connection to the battery. The solar modules charge the battery through the “SPV CHARGE CONTROLLER”.  When the battery reaches its full state of charge, the “SPV CHARGE CONTROLLER” disconnects the solar modules.  Thereby, prevents over charging of the battery and thus minimizes the loss of electrolyte.  The solar modules are again reconnected when the battery voltage is low.  Disconnection and reconnection of the solar module is done automatically by the “SPV CHARGE CONTROLLER’. 
PV modules Home lighting System are powered by solar energy using solar cells that convert solar energy (sunlight) directly to electricity. The electricity is stored in batteries and used for the purpose of lighting whenever required. These systems are useful in non-electrified rural areas and as reliable emergency lighting system for important domestic, commercial and industrial applications. The solar module is installed in the open on roof/terrace - exposed to sunlight and the charge controller and battery are kept inside a protected place in the house.
